Born in Brussels, Belgium (1979).

Jan Rosseel initially started a career in cooking. After working in various renowned restaurants in France, Spain and NY he decided to study Chinese language and culture. During an exchange program at Shandong University, China, he chose not to study in class but on the streets. While doing research on rural-urban migration in China he picked up his camera and started documenting the life of Chinese migrant workers.
He studied photojournalism/visual storytelling at the Danish School of Media and Journalism in Aarhus, Denmark and documentary photography at the Royal Academy of Arts in The Hague, The Netherlands.

He has been working on stories in Belgium,The Netherlands, China, Laos, Thailand, Israel, Palestine, Cuba, Armenia, Georgia, Turkey, Denmark and Germany;

This portfolio is in flux, as a stream of consciousness and awareness of the world around us.

Jan is available for assignments worldwide. His pictures have been published in deMorgen, De Tijd, Le Vif, l'echo, Onze taal, 8weekly, copypasteculture, GUP, Piel de Foto and photographer.ru

He has been selected as Emerging Talent for Reportage by Getty Images in August 2011 and nominated as a 2013 PDN 30 New and Emerging Photographers to Watch.
